ARTS FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 40TH SEASON IN
ST DAVIDS BISHOP'S PALACE
Festival Arts (UK) and Cadw will be celebrating two anniversaries this year: the theatre
company's 40th year of shows in the Bishops Palace and Cadw's 25th year in charge
of the magnificent medieval ruin.
Festival Arts are presenting Richard III by William Shakespeare in the Bishops Palace next to
St Davids Cathedral this year. It will be an exciting, fast moving production as Richard carves
his way recklessly to the throne, eventually facing the consequences of his actions.
The BishopsPalace is a spectacular setting, and will be fully illuminated for this open air production.
Festival Arts are delighted that this year they are also joining with CADW, the Welsh Historic Environment
Service,to celebrate them taking care of this beautiful building for the past 25 years.
Rehearsing in the Bishops Palace

The entire Festival Arts company will also present their much-loved patchwork performance of
poetry, music and prose in one of the atmospheric Palace Undercrofts on the two Sunday
nights of their season. The theme for this year's show is Bag and Baggage.
You can also come along and see the classic MGM musical, The Wizard of Oz. It promises to be
a fun-filled evening for all the family: join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion as
they follow the Yellow Brick Road in search of the Wizard of Oz himself! Complete with a host of
classic characters and songs from the film, the Wizard of Oz will be performed in the
Community Hall in Mathry, a picturesque hilltop village on the main Fishguard Road to
St Davids, with spectacular views down to the sea.
